Section 1. Be it enacted, etc., that from andafter the fourth of July next, the flag of theUnited States be thirteen horizontal stripes,alternate red and white; that the Union havetwenty stars, white in a blue field. Section 2. And be it further enacted, thaton the admission of every new state into theUnion, one star be added to the union of theflag; and that such addition shall take effecton the fourth of July next succeeding suchadmission.
